Matic had the pleasure of being reunited with lead artist Peter McCaughey and the team at WAVE as well as graphic designer's 6274 to complete the final stages of artwork at the new Eastgate Building on London Road, Glasgow.
Matic were involved in the printing and installation of a 100m mural round the site while the building was being constructed early in 2011. This was part of a fantastic artwork project involving the portfolios of the pupils of local high school Eastbank Academy. Peter and his team worked with the pupils over a 3 month period, taking snippets of their work to incorporate into the over all design. The final work was fantastic and received praise from everyone involved as well as the local community.
Now that the building has been completed and the Social work staff are actively using their new place of work Peter had the idea of recycling the artwork used in the initial installation. He picked 28 different sections from the original dibond panels which Matic cleaned and cut down to size for his team to install around the building.
Matic's main role in this part of the project was to work with lead graphic designer Bruce Macaulay to print and install graphic wall paper to brighten up the areas around the lifts and office space. The artwork received was fantastic and the final installation truly transformed the walls of the building.
The team at Matic were delighted to be invited to the opening ceremony where members of the city council, Clyde Gateway, Representatives for Eastbank Academy and the other artist involved in the project as a whole were there.
It was great to be involved in each part of the public artwork project and to work with such a creative and organised team.
